Top tips when using iPads in the classroom

The pace of adoption of iPads and other tablets into the classroom has rapidly accelerated in recent years. With this in mind, and with help from some tech-savvy teachers, we’ve put together some top tips for using iPads in the classroom.

Transform the classroom dynamic

With an iPad, you have the perfect opportunity to get out from behind your desk and into the classroom – or to use software such as Skype or Google Earth to travel virtually to far-flung destinations. Provide students with new and exciting ways to learn For example, the time-lapse video feature, available on devices running iOS 8 and higher, is a fantastic tool that students can use to record and revise practical experiments in science lessons.

Implementing guided access

Available in iOS 6 and higher, this allows you to lock students down to one app if you’re worried about them getting distracted.

One for the teachers

The SIMS Teacher app helps to make everyday classroom tasks easier for teachers. Use it to take registration, check your timetable, and record assessment, behaviour and achievement.
